Research Paper Proposal

One of the most important steps to writing a research paper is your research paper proposal.  Your research idea might be groundbreaking, but if your research paper proposal is poorly written then that will affect decisions based on funding and letting you carry out your research idea. The research paper proposal should have an interesting title that will grab the audience’s attention. Your abstract should then follow. The abstract of the research paper proposal should be a brief summary of the paper. The abstract will contain the question you are trying to answer, reasoning behind the study, methods and any projected results.

The introduction of the research paper proposal will contain the purpose of your study and your grasp of the current information on the chose topic. It should include any major research points, key information and any restrictions to the study. You should provide a review of any sources. This section of the research paper proposal will also include references to anyone who has done any previous work on this topic or who have provided a framework for your study.

You will provide a methods section in your research paper proposal. It will include why the chosen methods will benefit your research. The next section will state your projected results. There are no actual results in your research paper proposal but you should have some idea of what results you might obtain. The last part of your research paper proposal should be the impact your research will have. What are the benefits or drawbacks to this research? If your research paper proposal contains all of this presented information then you will have a good chance of getting approval for your project. Once you have written a few research paper proposals it will become second nature. When you are in graduate school or involved in academia you will have ample opportunity to write many research paper proposals.
