Modern Language Association (MLA) style citation is a common style used to cite a wide variety of sources.  When writing papers you use parenthetical citations in the body of your work and then include the complete source at the end of your paper. cc citations that appear in the body of you work use the author’s last name and the page number or only the page number. The following are a list of how different sources should be cited using MLA citation format in your paper. It is fairly easy to see the pattern used in MLA citation and most MLA citations are very easy to remember.

Essay, Poem, or Short Story in an Anthology - Author of Story, Essay, or Poem. "Title of Story, Essay or Poem." Title of Book. Name of Editor. Edition. Publication City: Publisher, Year. Page Number(s).Encyclopedias and Reference Books - Author of Article (if given). "Article Title." Title of Book. City of Publication: Publisher: Year.
Magazine Articles - Author. "Title of Article." Title of Magazine Date: Page(s).
Scholarly Journal Articles - Author. "Title of Article." Title of Journal Volume Number. Issue Number (Year): Page(s).
Newspaper Articles - Author. "Title of Article." Name of Newspaper Date, edition: Page(s).
Articles in Online Periodicals - Author. "Title of Article." Title of Publication Date: Page(s) or Section(s), if numbered. Date of Access .

The MLA citation style is very easy to use once you have gotten use to writing with it. It is a very common citation style though there are many other styles. MLA citation is usually the style taught when you first begin writing in grammar school. There are many books available on how to write using MLA citation.
