High school research paper prepares you to write a better college research paper. There should be a major improvement to your college research paper as compared to the one you wrote in high school. In college, you are expected to write clearly, have an interesting and arguable thesis, and have coherent and focused paragraphs.

A student’s college research paper should be written like that of other scholars. How you read, think, argue and write should show great academic skills. The topics you choose should be of interest to you as well as the community. Your college research paper should present the readers with an informed argument. A college student must know what to say in the paper and know who you are telling. In other words, do not only think about yourself but what the audience is likely to think- Their biases, values, expectations, knowledge should all be put into great consideration.

College research papers are much longer and their structures are more complex. The structures should support your ideas well. Your points should be made clearly, concisely, and persuasively. Rely on evidence rather than feelings. The language you use should not be offensive, racist, and insulting.  The college research paper must be error free- errors in grammar are very irritating and could obscure your meaning.

A college research paper should pay attention to the requirements of an assignment. No matter how good is your work, if you do not follow the requirements you will end up doing something very different. It should also pay attention to standards and rules especially outlined by your professor. The professor will expect you to hand in your college research paper  at a certain time; hand in work that is indeed your own, he will expect your work to be error free, and to follow certain rules of citing sources.
